WE HAVE ANNOUNCED THE WINNERS OF THE “WEKTORY 2024”. DUTKIEWICZ: NEW CHALLENGES AHEAD
Over 800 people - representatives from business, government, academia, media, and NGOs attended the “Wektory 2024” gala held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre in Warsaw. The annual Employers of Poland event was an occasion to present the 2024 awards and discuss the challenges facing the Polish economy.
The defining theme of this year’s gala was "breakthroughs." “Wektory” once again provided an opportunity to discuss the relationship between Polish business and its environment while seeking solutions to challenges such as defense and security, healthcare, modern technologies, and artificial intelligence. Companies operating in these sectors and leveraging their advancements gained recognition from the “Wektory 2024” jury.
– “The 23rd “Wektory” Gala was an opportunity to reflect on our development—Poland’s economic miracle on a global scale. Since 1990, GDP per capita PPP, has increased by over 200%. Since 1989, the value of Polish exports has grown 28-fold. Today, we have more than 5 million companies in Poland—over 10 times as many as at the start of the transformation. We’ve experienced numerous groundbreaking moments, with more ahead. “Wektory” provide a chance to outline a vision for the future—how our country and Europe will develop amidst many political, economic, and social challenges,” said Rafał Dutkiewicz, President of the Board of Employers of Poland, during the gala.
Three and a Half Decades of Polish Economic Growth
The event’s significance was underscored by the presence of prime ministers, presidents, and ministers from various periods of the past 35 years. A particularly symbolic moment was the presentation of the special award—"Super Wektor”—to Jerzy Buzek, who, as Prime Minister, was responsible for the Program of Four Reforms and, as President of the European Parliament, contributed to creating a favorable environment for Polish business.
– “We are approaching the Polish Presidency of the European Union, excellently prepared by the government. This is also a gift for entrepreneurs, who are the foundation of the EU community. You have the same principles, values, and foundations on which the EU is built: freedom, fair competition or equality. You are achieving extraordinary things. Now, we have six months for Poland and its people. A period full of meetings driven by the spirit of entrepreneurship awaits,” said Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek after receiving the “Super Wektor”.
The ceremony, which reviewed 35 years of economic transformation and key milestones in social and economic progress, was accompanied by awards for individuals who had a significant impact on the development of Polish entrepreneurship in the past year. To mark the anniversary, “Wektory of 35 anniversary” were presented. For the awardees, these were a token of recognition for years of contributions to the economy, sustainable development, inclusivity, and improvements in the quality and accessibility of the healthcare system. In total, five awards of 35 anniversary were presented.
17 Awards for People of Business, Science, and NGOs
For over two decades, “Wektory” have been awarded to individuals and companies actively supporting the development of the Polish economy. This year’s winners were selected by a panel of industry experts—People of business, science, and non-profit organizations.
