dr Juliusz Braun
He completed his master's studies at the Faculty of Geology of the University of Warsaw. He obtained his doctoral degree in media studies at the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science of the University of Warsaw.
After graduating, he worked briefly at the Polish Geological Institute. He started his journalistic work in 1973 in "Echu Dnia" in Kielce. Interned during martial law, later a columnist for the Catholic Weekly "Niedziela" in Częstochowa. Member of Parliament in 1989-1999; elected from the list of the Solidarity Citizens' Committee, later a member of the Democratic Union and the Freedom Union. He served as chairman of the Culture and Media Committee for two terms. In the years 1999-2005 he was a member of the National Broadcasting Council, which he chaired in the years 1999-2003. In the following years, he was the general director of the Association of Advertising Council Associations, as well as the department director and general counsel at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
In the years 2011 - 2015, president of the management board of Telewizja Polska. From 2016 to 2022, member of the National Media Council (appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland at the request of the Parliamentary Club of the Civic Platform).
From 1992 to 2016 he was a member of the Polish Committee for UNESCO. Since 2001, he has been a lecturer at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw. He is the author of many publications on culture and media, and co-author of the government's "Strategy for the Development of Social Capital" (2011).
He was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Silver Medal "Gloria Artis" and the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity.
