Jan Buczek

Member of the Council of Employers of Poland
President of the Board of the Association of International Road Carriers in Poland

Jan Buczek has been working for the development of Polish and European road transport for more than 30 years. He has been President of the Association of International Road Carriers since 2006. He has been involved with the Association for 26 years, as a member of the Association’s Council (1995-1999), and then as Secretary General (1999-2006), and since 2002 he has held an uninterrupted mandate as a delegate to the General Assembly of Delegates of the Association.

In addition, he actively represents Polish transport in the Geneva-based International Road Transport Union (IRU) as a member of the IRU Presidium.

For many years, Jan Buczek has been actively striving for the consolidation of the Polish road carriers’ environment. It was on his initiative in 2009 that the Road Transport Forum (FTD) was established - a discussion platform serving to work out common positions of the environment for the purposes of dialogue with the government and the Parliament, as well as with the institutions of the European Union. One of the successes of Jan Buczek and the Association was the reinstatement of the teaching of the driving profession in public schools.

Jan Buczek was honoured with numerous Polish and foreign awards and distinctions.
