On March 18-19, 2025, the first meetings of the SGI Europe Energy and Transport Task Forces of the year took place in Warsaw. Both meetings were primarily related to the situation in Poland in the context of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which gave the discussions on key energy and transport issues a crucial significance at both the Polish and European levels.
The working meeting on the energy industry was hosted by the President of Employers of Poland, Mr. Rafał Dutkiewicz, who officially opened the session. The Energy Task Force was chaired by Elmar Thyen, with Kristian Dahl Larsen as vice-chair. The members of the group focused on urgent issues, including the recently published EU Affordable Energy Action Plan.
On March 19, the Transport Task Force meeting took place, co-organized by a member of Employers of Poland, the International Road Carriers Association (ZMPD), with Joanna Popiołek serving as vice-chair. The session was chaired by Mihai Chirca.
The meetings also included study visits to companies that are members of Employers of Poland. Participants had the opportunity to explore an innovative energy recovery system that allows for energy capture from metro movement. This modern system demonstrates how urban transport can contribute to energy efficiency and sustainable development. Additionally, attendees had the chance to experience a railway driving simulator used for train driver training.
